Guitarist Nuno Bettencourt has surprised fans by announcing the establishment of Nuno Guitars, his own guitar company. After more than thirty years with Washburn, the musician has decided to embark on a new chapter in his career, focusing entirely on fostering closer connections with fans and guitarists.
“I am excited to share that I am launching my own guitar company. It has been an incredible 35 years with Washburn, but the time has come for something new,” the artist revealed on his official page. He explained that this change has been in the works for several years and stems from a desire to create a closer and more engaged community.
Nuno emphasized that his primary motivation is to interact directly with those who purchase his instruments. For him, it is not just about selling guitars, but about building a genuine relationship. “I want every person who has a Nuno guitar to feel like part of my family forever,” he affirmed.
Furthermore, the guitarist highlighted that this direct-to-consumer model ensures musicians receive the exact instruments he uses on stage and in the studio.
Dark Horse
One of the models launched by the brand is the Dark Horse. This instrument was designed as a true “workhorse,” capable of catering to both studio musicians and touring guitarists. The design embodies Bettencourt’s identity, reflecting his energetic playing style and refined technique.
White Stallion
The second model introduced is the White Stallion, a guitar that promises to blend style and durability. The name references the strength and elegance of a white horse, symbolizing the guitarist’s quest for an instrument that combines power and sensitivity.
A New Phase in His Career
Recently, Bettencourt has been seen on major stages, such as at the Black Sabbath charity concert in Birmingham and the MTV VMA in 2025. Now, with Nuno Guitars, he aims to solidify a new stage in his career, where performance and luthiery work hand in hand.
