The NAMM Show of 2026 reinforced a clear trend in the amplification market: the balance between fully digital solutions and traditional tube equipment. Friedman emerged as one of the notable brands, unveiling three main products: the signature PX-20 amplifier developed with Phil X, the VX30 inspired by classic Vox designs, and the advanced IR-Load, a load box featuring digital capabilities and Machine Learning technology.
Friedman PX-20
The Friedman PX-20 is a 20-watt tube head created in collaboration with Bon Jovi guitarist Phil X. This model boasts two channels: a clean channel aimed at American-inspired tones, featuring volume, bass, and treble controls; and a gain channel, which is equipped with a three-band EQ, as well as independent volume and gain controls. Additionally, the amplifier features switches that modify its sound response. These include adjustments for brightness, definition, gain structure, and a switchable boost. Moreover, it incorporates a rear control called Thump, which is responsible for shaping bass tones and enhancing the sense of impact.
Friedman VX30
The VX30 expands Friedman’s British line, drawing inspiration from the classic Vox AC30 concept. It offers two primary channels: Normal and Top Boost, along with modern features such as a master volume control, Cut function, and a “More” selector that increases the gain level. The design aims to preserve the dynamic behavior and responsiveness that are characteristic of British amplifiers while adding greater flexibility for contemporary use.
Friedman IR-Load
The most technologically advanced release is the IR-Load, a reactive load box that combines an attenuator, reamplifier, and Impulse Response loader. This equipment includes a stereo solid-state power stage with 360 watts, equipped with Machine Learning technology developed in collaboration with Synergy. This technology simulates the dynamic behavior of tubes interacting with speakers. The IR-Load offers MIDI capabilities, stereo looping, and the option for silent recording, positioning itself as a versatile solution for both studio and stage applications.
