Orange OR60 offers a classic sound with modern features in a British amplifier.

Orange Unveils the OR60

Orange has introduced the OR60, a new 60-watt tube amplifier head manufactured in the United Kingdom, designed to focus on simplicity, power, and precise tone control. This model has been developed to cater to guitarists in search of a single-channel amplifier capable of delivering everything from crystal-clear clean tones to intense overdrives, while maintaining clarity, definition, and dynamic response.

Features of the OR60

Equipped with two 6L6 tubes, the OR60 offers high headroom and solid low-end performance, as well as a good response to boost and overdrive pedals. The intention is to combine the classic character inherent to the brand with modern sound-shaping features. Notable highlights include dedicated Presence and Resonance controls, which allow users to adjust the behavior of the power section, shaping both treble and bass frequencies according to the playing environment, cabinet, and performance style.

Additional Features

The amplifier also includes a Bright switch, which adds brightness and definition, particularly useful for darker pickups and clean sounds. Furthermore, the power selector allows users to toggle between 60W and 30W, facilitating the attainment of saturation at low volumes without compromising dynamics. Another important feature is the second volume control activated by footswitch, designed to easily switch between rhythm and lead tones without altering the gain setting.

In addition to these elements, considering the integration with external pedals and rack systems, Orange has incorporated a tube-driven effects loop, which preserves the integrity of the signal at any gain level. This detail makes the OR60 a versatile platform suitable for both minimalist setups and more complex pedalboards.

Construction of the Orange OR60

With its robust construction, premium components, and assembly in the United Kingdom, the OR60 positions itself as a straightforward option for those who prefer single-channel amplifiers but do not wish to sacrifice flexibility. The aim is to deliver a rich and articulated tone that is ready for various contexts, while maintaining the sonic identity that has established Orange as a reference in the realm of tube amplifiers.

The new Orange OR60 head is priced at $2,499 in international music stores. For more details, see the video below:
